The City of Cupertino on Monday published the full video of a month’s planning commission meeting that took place in early October, where also revealed a clip the company used to present the Campus 2 project.
The video was shown to the people during this planning commission session, including the last week Cupertino City Council vote that provided Apple with final approval of the project.
The clip shows Apple’s real estate and facilities chief Dan Whisenhunt, who offers the short video created to promote the Campus 2 project to the City of Cupertino’s planning commission and the city council.
A number of team members then discuss the beginnings and future steps of Apple’s great undertaking. The clip emphasizes the main advantages of the project such as sustainability, usability and quality craftsmanship.
Notably, that the approved “spaceship” structure wasn’t included into the original plans.
According to Foster, “It didn’t start as a circular building, it really grew into that. So the idea of one building with a great park was really borne out of a very intensive process.”
According to the Apple VP of Environmental Initiatives Lisa Jackson, the company will use 80 percent of so-called “green space.” In addition, the building is expected to be created without air conditioning or heating, instead, Apple will use natural ventilation. 100 percent of the campus’ energy will be taken from solar power and bio fuels.
One of the main ideas of the plan is to bring California back to Cupertino. “Apple’s always been in Cupertino,” Jobs says, “and we’re proud to be here.”
